What is trape definition?

A trapezoid, or trapezium, is a polygon with four sides, one pair of which is parallel while the other pair is not. The parallel sides are called bases, while the non-parallel sides are called legs. The height or altitude of a trapezoid is the perpendicular distance between the bases. The area of a trapezoid is given by the formula: (base1 + base2) x height / 2. Trapezoids can be either isosceles (where the two non-parallel sides are equal in length) or scalene (where all four sides have different lengths). They are often used in geometry, especially in areas such as calculations involving volumes and surface areas of three-dimensional shapes.
